I’ve said for a long time that the biggest problem with iTunes is that it really only plays nicely with iPods. I’m apparently not alone.
OSLO (Reuters) - A Norway consumer agency said it aims to take computer group Apple to court over what it calls unfair barriers to playing music from the iTunes music store on devices other than Apple's iPod.

The issue here is that iTunes is rapidly becoming a kind of dumbed down podcatcher for a lot of people who still fail to understand the power of RSS and their relationship to podcasting.
It doesn’t help that the alternatives are overly complicated and stupidly difficult to deal with.

Honestly, I think this is pretty silly. iTunes is an Apple service so if they only want their music played on their product, I don’t see where that is a problem. Actually that just seems like smart business. There are other really good music sites so if you want to download music to a different device, just use a different download service.
I have downloaded my iTunes music to my son’s mp3 player and it just took a little work. All I did was burn a cd (so we can use it in the car too) then reinserted the cd in the computer & ripped it in mp3 format. There are ways around everything if you take the time to figure it out.

I couldn’t agree more with Shellae. If you want to use iTunes, then use it how it works, figure a way around it, or don’t use it. I download all my songs to iTunes and then copy them to CD and from their to the MP3. Like Shellae said, it takes a little more time, but it works. This is the same concept as video game systems (XBox, Wii, and PS3). You can’t play a game made for one of these on the other systems. It just doesn’t work. But at least with the music issue, there is a way around it. People just have to deal with it.
