ok, I love this site and think that I can take advantage of it more this summer, but it seems a little confusing. You have to have a Skype account already and then register for the PD’s in advance. I also didn’t see a list of what PD’s are when. I assume you have to have a skype account to see it. I don’t know, things like this remind me how very little I know about technology.

Wouldn’t you just have to sign-up for the Skype. I glanced at this, and will get back to it, but I have never had a Skype account either—-so just that we don’t know that much about Skype–but later will is a little bit more about technology. I have to take it in in bits and pieces when I have time, and I am sure I will play around with it all much more creatively this summer as well.

This site looked very interesting. The way I am reading it, would you need to join UStream and Skype? Since I am going for a Rank I in Technology, I think I too will look into this more after testing. Right now I just don’t have any time to work with it. I will get back to it though.

Yes, I am a bit bewildered about this site, too. I think one must join Ustream and Skype. Last semester was the first time that I had heard of Skype and it sounded intriguing. Then I learned that the principal at my school regularly uses Skype to communicate with her husband who is a pilot. Just today, some of Oprah’s guests were on via Skype. I feel like I need to learn to use it.
I would like to try one of these PDs, but I need to learn more about Skype. I have a headphone set…

My husband and I use Skype to talk to the in-laws who live as close as Indiana and as far away as Fiji. It’s basically a free conversation through your computer. You need a headset and can even use a web cam which is great for Granma and Papaw to keep up with their always growing grandbabies! It’s a great tool!

This site looks great. I just downloaded Skype last week on my computer at school. I am going to try to find time to go through the site.

I just registered for UStream. I don’t have a Skype account, yet either, but I was able to watch and listen to a PD session. I can see this as being a valuable tool. I, like most of the others who have commented, have little time. I’m thinking or trying to think like a 21st century learner who, if I didn’t have a bunch of stuff that I HAVE to do, could LEARN what I choose to learn from the PD available here. I guess my point is that I see the idea that kids are learning all the time (just as we are) and it would be nice to be able to learn what you find to be valuable. I know I could do this as a teacher…..find PD that is relevant to me. I’m not sure that students would get what they need this way. I know…..”what they need according to who?”
